Nebulae was born as a bold architectural experiment: a biobrutalist and retro-futuristic work conceived through the lens of tropical modernity, adapted to the climate, energy, and living topography of the mountains of Heredia. It is a project that is not only built, but breathes, resonates, and evolves with its surroundings.
Created, designed, and constructed by architect Eric Bogantes at the age of 25, Nebulae began as a personal laboratory of ideasan exploration of new ways to inhabit and experience architecture. Its first physical manifestation was the Allianz Loft, inaugurated as a space for creative experimentation, intuitive design, and cultural exchange.
Over time, the project expanded in vision and depth. Through more than a decade of structural explorations, climatic studies, and aesthetic research, Nebulae reached its second major transformation: the creation of the Nebulae Cultural Center, symbolically inaugurated during the architect’s 40th-birthday celebration.
This evolution marks the closing of one cycle and the beginning of another, even greater one: Nebulae is no longer just a building, but a cultural ecosystem that fuses architecture, art, music, spirituality, and community. A project built as an exercise in full-scale experimental architecture, generating a new and unique concept—never before seen—where creativity and human experience converge in one living space.
In its current form, Nebulae stands as an artistic proposal seamlessly integrated with a place of stay, strategically located just minutes from Costa Rica’s Juan Santamaría International Airport. The project is envisioned as a center of creative convergence, designed to bring together talent and serve as a platform for showcasing both national and international art.
Nebulae embraces a wide range of disciplines: movement arts, yoga, meditation, spirituality, visual arts, and music. This multidisciplinary approach allows the space to function as a bridge between human expression and architectural design.
At its core, the fusion of architecture and the arts is what gives Nebulae its essence, creating an environment that is both singular and deeply sensorial. It is precisely this integration that makes Nebulae a truly unique place in the world, where creativity is experienced, inhabited, and shared.
